Rated "poor" with regards to deaths from stomach, liver, and lung cancer. Female life expectancies compared to world average rated good, male life expectancies rated average. This reads like a fairly straightforward condemnation of the eating, drinking, and smoking habits of middle age Korean men.

Diabetes Mellitus being #4 does not shock Shocked me with the huge amounts of rice they eat. Basically a bowl of rice = a bowl of sugar.

Kwangjuchicken - thats a simplistic Atkins take on the issue - but it's not even a half truth..

It seems that there are multiple risk factors and causes...

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2879903/

Has the consumption of rice dramatically increased in the Korean diet with the dramatic rise of diabetes in the last 20 years? No, they've always eaten a high carb - staple rice diet.
If anything if you're gonna blame diet its the consumption of animal protein and fat that has shown "remarkable change"....
