Let's list your most useful apps, what phone/OS/platform it's for, and how/why is it useful to you for your life in Korea. I hope to update this original thread if its gets off the ground.
Thanks!
----
My list:
Android 2.2 @ Galaxy S.
Seoul Bus - for figuring out where and when the bus is. Korean only I think.
Metroid - Seoul subway map, figure out transfers, time, distance.. Korean only I think.
Kakao Talk - chat program, which I use along side text messaging. save on messaging costs.
Tango - video calls over 3g/wireless. could be better quality, but decent. talk to family and friends who have app installed on their smart phones for free.
Skype - more free calls over 3g/wireless. very buggy and slow for me, but i upt up with it. talk to family overseas for free. |

TuneIn Radio - simply the best app I have. Avoid home sickness by listening to just about every radio station in the world on this thing. I use it to listen to 102.1 the edge from Toronto. Plug your phone into your computer speakers when at home, sounds terrific too.
Compass - Seoul's lack of a logical street grid can confuse anyone's sense of direction. This helps greatly, you can also bookmark spots where you've been and it will tell you how far and what direction they're in.
There's some other good apps, CGV is not bad (if your Korean is up to it) etc but there's not many MUST have apps that are specific to one's experience in Korea. Most of the subway apps are quite good. |

Mini T World for SK smartphone users - It lets you check your bill, usage, track your bills for the past 6 months and gives you 100 free texts.
Applanet for Android users - free apps and games. You have to download it from their website not the market.
I also like Metroid, but it's only for those who can read Hangul.
Kakao Talk - Free texting from smartphone to smartphone. It's cross platform so iPhone users can chat with Android users. |
