So I just moved into Uijeongbu city and haven't seen enough to figure what I make of this city. My first impression is that there might not be enough to stay entertained for my year-long contract, so will most likely be making trips to Seoul frequently on the weekends. In any case, I'll pose some of my thoughts and questions I had pertaining to this area..
From things I've read on these forums and from the little research I've done on the city, it definitely should have enough outdoor type fares for me to frequent. I was really hoping to get into rock climbing and was wondering if those type of activities are available in this area.
For things in town, I was wondering where most people hangout for drinks and if there is a worthlife nightlife here.
Thought I had more questions, but sorta lost my train of thought - anyway I look forward to some replies! |

Even though I do not live in Uijeongbu my sister teaches there and I go to see her often. In fact I was there for the past three days for Christmas. Most of my friend base is there as well. There is entertainment but you have to know where to go. Most people go downtown to Tom's Vill, Vito Club, Ice Club, and Mia Bar.
Be forewarned though, there is a significant GI presence here because of the two military bases nearby and many (not all) of them are of the type where seeing who has the bigger package and starting fights is fun for them.
If you need some connections you can feel free to PM me. |

Thanks for the relply wishfullthinking. I ended going to Mia's Bar last night and enjoyed it quite well. The bartenders were pretty cool and I was able to talk to a couple of teachers(although they were completely trashed).
I start my work training today, so I suppose I'll allow myself a few days to adjust to my new setting. I'll try to be in contact with you after sometime if you don't mind. Cya! |

I see that you posted this back in summer, but I may be moving here myself, so I'm curious how you've found the area in since your last post. You've maybe already discovered this page, but about climbing, here's an English-language page on the local climbing. There also appears to be a nice bouldering room in Nowon-gu. |
