I bought this thinking I could sync it to my US Wii but to no avail.

The box is opened thus the possiblity of taking it back was nullified.

The package retails for 98,000 on GMarket.

I bought a Korean Wii fit board and it synced to my US Wii without a hitch. Maybe it's a Nintendo defect?

Maybe I'm missing a step.

I got it to power up but that's about it.

I'll give it another run. Any tips?

The Korean game won't work in a US Wii, unless it's modded. But the board will work with a US Wii. Accessories (Controllers, plugs, cables, wires) are all universal. Games (at least Nintendo Wii games and older console games) are not.
