Yep, had that yesterday - W32.Sasser.worm it's called.
Bloody annoying, but it was easy to get rid of with the Microsoft information. |

Scary that it just came in my computer. I had my firewall turned off while using overnet. At least the virus was easy to clean up with that update. Everyone should do a windows update ASAP. |

Yes, this type of worm just walks in and starts doing its thing. There are variants of it running around now (but the patches I mentioned will stop further infection).
Here are some additional steps you may want to take to make sure it's gone:
This microsoft page will scan your computer (below) to see if Sasser is in there. It took about 30 seconds to tell me my computer was clean. The worm scanner comes after the instructions.

Good Luck!

I update my AV and run Windows Update once a week or whenever I hear of a new virus/worm, whichever comes first.
A clean-install OS and programs have been backed up onto an old hard drive that sits in a 3.5 bay but has been physically disconnected. Some people might consider that overkill but if I virus hits me I have virtually no downtime- 3 minutes and I'm up and running again. |

Sounds interesting.
What software are you using to backup on to the second hard drive? |

Ghost.
If you have Seagate drives you can get free software off their site to do the same thing. |
