Hi, I'm trying to put my new HDTV to good use. Does anyone know if any of the Korean channels will be showing the Super Bowl?

Bump. I also am eager to know about this. I assume they are... it's kind of a world event, and Hines Ward (half Korean, born in Busan) is playing.

Can anyone confirm?

ESPN? Perhaps in a bar if you ask they'll put it on.

Sure enough, I knew as soon as I posted that someone would knock that. It is so predictable how blindly some of you people discredit anything American.

I guess 232 countries and 34 languages DOESN'T make it a world event...?

Anyway, I was asking more about what Korean cable channels will show it live, so I can watch it at home. I already know several bars showing it in my neighborhood, but I'd rather sit on my couch than stand in a crowded bar at eight in the morning... if I even wake up in time.

It know it will, because I watched Superbowls 42 and 43 on Korean TV. I am not sure what channel shows it. I think SBS sports.

I wasn't knocking it because it's American, but the sport isn't exactly played world-wide now is it?

Oops- I think you meant "I wasn't," not "I was," but nice Freudian slip there... ha ha.

Indeed, American football is certainly not played in many countries. Two that I know of (I assume that European football league is no more). Anyway I didn't say it was a worldwide sport, I said the Super Bowl is a worldwide event. One game, and most people, I realize, are only watching it because of media hype. I don't even really understand it.

Crap, you beat me before I edited.

World wide event, ok fair enough. I've also watched it before now in Scotland and recall being generally befuddled as to what was going on.

Ha... no worries. It actually is puzzling to me how much attention it gets, because almost NOBODY outside the U.S. gives a crap about the sport or any of the other games. Same thing happens in America, too... everyone and their mother seems to watch it, despite not knowing anything about the game.

Interestingly, I've missed the last few years... I watch the regular season replays week by week, along with the playoffs, but I've been unable to get to a TV the last couple of years for the super bowl, and by the time I do, I have somehow found out the score.

I'm pretty sure I will have to work on Monday morning, so sadly
I won't be able to watch it live. I'm looking forward to avoiding Facebook, various news websites and TV so hopefully I can find a quality torrent and watch it that way on Monday evening.

A lot of Canadians do follow the sport, and it does have a following in Mexico, but aside from those it's pretty much non-existent to the rest of the world. Also, even though it is shown in 232 countries in 34 languages, how many actually watch it outside of the 3 countries I've mentioned? It's like saying the chess championship is a popular event in America just because ESPN2 shows it.
