I was watching CSI: Miami last night and there was a scene in which one of the CSIs was performing (or not performing) CPR on a drowning victim. I have noticed something about this show and other crime/medical dramas I have watched. An unconscious victim is found not breathing. Someone very attractive immediately pushes on the person's chest a few times, yelling, "Come on, breathe!" before collapsing dramatically in defeat 5 seconds later. Usually, someone in the background says very solemnly, "He's gone." Really? That designer suit and four chest compressions didn't save him?

I think it's funny, but there are people out there who take what they see on tv seriously. I really hope that if I am ever in need of CPR, the people involved will put in more effort than that.

Yes, it's a holiday and I'm bored.

When CPR does work on TV or in the movies, they always seem to go from a full on cardiac arrest or drowning to becoming fully conscious in a matter of moments. I am pretty sure that it takes a bit longer than this to make for a full recovery.
