anyone know of any companies in seoul that will drive you to other cities for a reasonable price? (please, i am aware of cabs, buses, trains, subways etc...looking for transportation by car from a company)

not owned or whatever u want to call it. i tried to discourage that kind of response even though i knew it was coming.

if you dont have the answer just move on. yeah like it is economical to get in a cab in seoul and say pohang, and step on it.

have you ever seen the show who wants to be a millionaire?
i always wondered when they polled the audience that the person in the chair didnt ask everyone to raise both of their hands above their head and to keep them there if they were not 100 percent sure of the answer when asked.

Such companies do exist.. when I arrived in Korea my recruiter arranged for a driver to take me from my hotel in Seoul to my apartment out in the sticks. He wasn't a taxi driver as there was no meter in the car, and he didn't work for the recruiter either. He told me he'd just got back from Busan on a different job before picking me up. That said, no idea what you'd call such a company in Korean.

I agree that a bus or train is likely to be your best bet here though.. or is there a reason why you specifically need to go by car?

You're asking for help, but you won't let people help you by telling them the basic information needed for a complete and accurate answer.

Yeah, you want a taxi. See all those cars with lights on the roof? That's what you want. If you have eyes, you can see the phone number on the side of one of them and call it. That's a "company" that provides "transportation" by "car." The reason they have the phone number is because some people call them and ask for "transportation" by a "car."

thatkidpercy is referring to a "call taxi car service." They are run by the same companies that provide taxi service. They run on a flat rate between certain areas. Again, see a taxi, get the number, call the number. Unless, of course, you're blind, or your fingers are broken, or you don't have a phone, or 500 won for a payphone, or you're a mute, or you can't handle the basics of Korean, or you're just anti-social and don't like to talk to people on the phone.

apparently there are a few ways of going long-distance with another driver.

To be fair to the other posters - OP you did leave out necessary info for others to give an informed reply..

E.G. If you mean drive your car for you like the "drivers" who drive you in your car back home after you've had a few drinks. Great service - they'll drive you across (EG) Busan for about ₩10,000 even if it's a 50 minute drive from one side of the city to another. Now they also drive longer distance - (apparently) - but I just don't know how far or for how much..you'd have to call your local number and get a quote This could be useful if you have your own transport but are in some way unable to drive...

In which case there does exist a 'long distance driver' (I have been informed) but I simply don't have any other details ...sorry..

The other option is negotiating a rate (obviously off meter) can be done with - yup.. A taxi .... could be pretty expensive though - depending on how far you'd like to travel?

Guessing that the OP needs to take things that are too much to carry (?)- hence public transport is no good - the other option would be a cheap moving service?

But it is difficult to guess what to suggest without knowing a little bit more about your needs OP...

They have private cars called "Call taxis". You can ask Koreans in your area for "Call taxi" numbers and you'll get a local one. Usually the cars are Equuses and the like.

Although the Op does seem kind of... off. What he's asking for exists. You can hire cars and drivers for short term or long term use. Most mid-sized companies do exactly that (the larger Chaebol subcontract directly).

Agreed. I'm not so sure why it was so hard to comprehend the OP is looking for something more like a chauffeur although perhaps not a limousine. You see these types of cars quite often...a bit longer than an Equis...not as bulky, with some dark yellow/golden writing on the back window. These drivers often drive foreign (and Korean) businessmen around for meetings, lunch...whatever they need to do.

Sure a taxi may get the job done, but perhaps the OP is looking for something a bit more professional and elegant than your everyday ajussi and his marked taxi.

Here is a service in Korea. It says limousine service, but if you browse the cars available (차량소개), you can see an array of cars ranging from Equus and Chairman, to even minivans and others.

Also they can provide English language call center, as well as can provide English speaking drivers.
