Has anyone used this service to get an Apostille? They charge $200 U.S and specify 4-5 days processing and overnight delivery. |

That is a good price, much lower than apostillepro's or whatever that site is that millysfriend advertises on almost everyone of his posts.
I would suggest a google search. |

Apostila charges $200/document. So 2 documents would be $400 according to their site.
Apostille Pros charge $175/document and $95 for each additional document apostille. FedEx overnight is free within the U.S. They process apostille the same day they receive the document. They also expedited the FBI background check apostille, but you have to call and ask.
I had a friend used Apostille Pros and everything was accepted by Korean Immigration.

FBI background check costs 275 dollars on Apostille pros.

Using an apostille service for state authentications is pointless for most people as most states have a 1-2 day turnaround time. |

My friend paid $175 for her degree apostille and $95 for the FBI background check and received everything back the next day by FedEx. She didn't do it through the Feds. The way Apostille Pros had done the documentation, everything was accepted by Korean Immigration. Her recruiter even said you don't have to go through the Feds. Anyway, her dad is a doctor, so he paid everything, so she didn't care. She said, a friend she knew took it to a bank notary and everything got rejected. I believe with an agency you just have to send in the original document and not go places to get it notarized. So it's up to the person if they want to put up with the hassle. If you have money, do it, cause it's done professionally and not risk it being rejected like the friend who took it to a bank notary.
Anyway have a great day!

If you didn't go through the "Feds" why would use this service? I mailed my diploma to my State SOS and it was back ~ 4 days later for 20 dollars using regular priority mail.
As for getting "rejected" you simply misunderstand the process. Any state registered notary will receive an apostille.
Just because you "don't care how much it costs" does not mean you should give extremely bad and expensive advice. |

I didn't do the apostille. It's what my friend had done. Most states are not as quick as your state. For mail in, it takes 10-14 business days. Some states may even say 7 days on their website, but its not guarantee. If they get a lot of docs, its first come first serve.Agencies can guarantee a return date.
Also, the state place was too far for my friend. Gas and also missing time from her current part time job.
I guess processing time varies from different state.

Thanks for the replies, all.
Unfortunately, some of us live in states where the SoS will not put an Apostille on an FBI background check. When it's a matter of going through the Department of State in DC, using an Apostille service saves a lot of time.
I'm not sure what a notary has to do with anything. If you have an FBI seal and signature on your CBC, you don't need a notary, right? |

Personally, I would never send sensitive documents to a stranger for free let alone pay $200. But that's just me.
OP, I recommend sending your FBI check to the federal Secretary of State's office in Washington, D.C. |

That is correct. No notary needed. The only time you should consider dealing with the Apostille companies is when sending documents to the US dept of state, and you don't live within driving distance and you are in a MAJOR hurry. |
