Hi guys,

I'm new to Korea -- currently taking some Korean courses while staying in seoul to get adjusted.

My goal is to teach business English .

My background:I'm an American with a bachelors in engineering as well as 2 years consulting experience for a large tech consulting firm in the States. I have an excellent business vocabulary and a good consultant's resume but I don't have any teaching experience.

Just wanted to hear thoughts about:
-What kind of business teaching opportunities there are
-How qualified I am
-What I can do to get more qualified and attractive to employers besides getting a TEFL(doing this now)

Any advice greatly appreciated!

I don't know if my experience is typical, but I've done several "business" English classes for both groups and individuals, and each time the student(s) ended up asking for more "conversational" English.

All of the classes were set up through large companies (YBM, Pagoda, etc.). In each case the class ended up being different than what I was initially told by the account manager/ handler.

Concerning qualifications, F visas probably help for part-time work, and lots of ads ask for a certain amount of experience teaching adults. My experience in "business" English has all been part-time, so I'm not sure about the situation with full-time corporate gigs or hagwon business English.
