A thread for the video game lovers to talk about what game they're playing at the moment and what they think.

I'm kind of alternating between 3 right now...

World of Warcraft - I've only gotten my main to 81 so far, but have spent quite a lot of time with the new quests leveling my alts.

WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2011 - Buyable in Korea, but you hit the issue with DLC codes included needing a Korean PSN account (including the Bret Hart code). WWE Universe mode is fun, if a bit random.

Rock Band 3 - Got this with the keyboard off eBay. Expensive, but I have the whole set now (got Beatles Rock Band Limited Edition with a mic, guitar and drums, and an extra guitar). RB3 seems to be made for people who collect a lot of songs through importing from previous games (have RB1, RB2, Lego and Green Day. Also Beatles, but that doesn't import due to licensing agreements.) as the road tour mode mixes the formula up by letting you choose between a certain genre, decade or source (one of the games, downloads or Rock Band Network downloads) and then specifying either a random or a custom (you choose) set list from said specification. Sometimes getting a lot of songs leads to paralysis by over analysis, and this solves that issue. It helps if you have fellow teachers who like the game too.

As well, recently, I've played Metal Gear Solid 4, Soulcalibur IV and Madden 11. Had a bit of time on my hands with the break this week.

just downloaded mass effect 2 from psn, so I'm playing that, dead nation and assassin's creed: brotherhood. next will be gods of war 1 and 2 with a side of bayonetta, finally working up to the grand finale of ninja gaiden sigma 2. I'm a trophywhore, so these games take time Very Happy

For the PC:

Dead Space 2 (great game), Dead Rising 2 (fun flaying/mashing/incinerating zombies), Deathspank (light, good writing, fun story), Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (intense; needs DX11 and coffee), Mafia II (a bit slow; gotta love driving around) and TRON Evolution (meh; movie tie-in games are always kinda sloppy).

Mostly FPS for me, as I haven't time for RPGs and such. Also, I wouldn't play online to save my life (not only do I suck, but I am well past wanting to hang out with teenagers).

I agree with Dead Space 2. Terrific fun!

I'm on my second playthrough on Zealot difficulty!

due to the Lunar New Year holidays, was able to binge on MGS 4 and complete it - played every MGS game and it was good to finish the series. Undoubtedly my favourite game series of all time, one of the few to have a cohesive story tying everything together and making each game vital. A properly cinematic experience.

Also picked up Fallout 3 but I havent got into it yet - I know its one fo those life-eating games that I'll play for hours on end, so im going to wait til I can devote time to it.

For now, playing Red Dead and GTA 4 Episodes

I want to get Pro Evo 2011 as well. I bought FIFA 11 as PES is only available in Korean here, but I'm not really a fan of the FIFA gameplay, imo it doesnt feel right so I took it back. Now going to splash some W73,000 importing PES from USA or UK to get it in English. It'll be worth it.

if you have a PS3, GET DEMON'S SOULS. it's not a question or suggestion, it's pretty much mandated from heaven itself.

By the by, is anyone else here a fan of Zero Punctuation, the game review video series?

It became pretty amazing to me once I got my PS3 how many games I had gotten that he reviewed.

Definitely BFBC2 for me as well... but you don't play online? The quality of the online play is what makes Bad Company 2 great ^_^

I'm tired of Civ 5 these days, so I've been playing Dragon Age. I assume most of you are familiar with it, but I haven't had the time to play it through before now. I have to say the game structure is very good, the story line is decent while I find the combat system a little annoying, but not too bad. I really wished there where more ways of building your class. It makes the game seems a little dumb downed compared to NWN/NWN2, but it's a flaw I'm willing to live with, and one might say NWN had too many combinations and imbalances.

On the PC:

Fallout 3 - I like it so far, but for me it has the same problem oblivion did, it is just TOO big. I get distracted too easily.

Crysis Warhammer - Fun game, nothing special, but it is fun to hear the Korean in game

Divinity II - I really enjoyed this game, the squeal is not as great, but still solid.

Sc2 - North American Region...although if it wasn't for the Korean text, it'd be interesting to play it on the Korean region.

WoW - sad to say but after hitting 85, it's the same thing over and over. My old guild is barely active so it's been a while since I've logged on.

I'm currently looking for a good FPS as Sudden Attack just doesn't do it for me. I've been wanting to get into BFBC2 or even COD Black Ops but I'm not sure how active the multiplayer servers would be and how the ping times are. Can anyone(who play FPS games) tell me how the multiplayer environment is in Korea? I play a little Battlefield Online through pmang but that game is extremely old.

I am hoping to get my feet wet with either "Little Big Planet 2" or "Mass Effect 2" for PS3.

Seems like the number of compelling games available increases in inverse proportion to the free time (or total lack thereof) I have available to play them.
