A deal taking shape between Israel and Western leaders will facilitate international support for an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities in exchange for concessions in peace negotiations with the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, The Times reported Thursday.
According to one British official quoted by the paper, such an understanding could allow an Israeli attack "within the year."
The report in the UK paper quoted unnamed diplomats as saying Israel was prepared to offer concessions on the formation of a Palestinian state as well as on its settlement policy and "issues" with Arab neighbors, in exchange for international backing for an Israeli operation in Iran.
Israel is investing time in preparing itself for the complexity of an attack on Iran.
This is something that has been published and which will showcase Israel's abilities," another defense official said. |

Well, I suppose it will suck (more) to be an American soldier in Iraq soon. |

Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie Appointed Iran's First Vice President
"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie to be the country's new first vice president, AFP reports. Mashaie came under fire in Iran last year for saying the nation was a friend of Israel.
Mashaie a year ago was severely criticised by the country's hardliners and even rapped by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for saying Iran was a "friend of the Israeli people."

I'm curious where Israel will get the bunker buster bombs it was asking Bush to give them last year. It doesn't look like Obama is in any mood to hand any over any time soon. |

I'll be in Israel on holiday in late October/early November, so any time after that to commence the strikes is fine by me. |

Obama has repeatedly told them not to attack. Americans in Iraq and other places. If THAT happens, the USA should cut all ties to Israel.......just to start! |

Huh? It is America that is giving Israel the weapons and the blessing to do so. American actions speak louder than Obama's words. |

It's not like the money to Israel is without more appropriate (domestic) uses.

Honestly, I don't believe the JPost on this. I don't think the Americans will allow it and I don't think Israel will actually make concessions on a Pali state. |

This should be the nicest thing that happens to that desert dung heap. Nuke them back to the time of Moses. That would be an acceptable start and would undoubtedly be the first positive step towards world peace that has ever been taken. |

Israel's existence has coincided with an era of comparative world peace.
This week - just this week - the terrorist attacks on civilians in Indonesia, Somalia, India, Pakistan, Iraq, China, Afghanistan, Dagestan, Chechnya, Thailand, Ingushetia and Jordan by virgins-hunting Muslims had diddly to do with Israel but had everything to do with a particularly nasty variety of theism. |

So for you criticism of Israel equates to approval of terrorism by others?
And how do you know that, were it not for the existence of Israel, those attacks would have happened anyway? |

I don't buy it, either. I don't have much of a pulse on Israel, but I can't imagine the Obama administration (or any administration) endangering American soldiers abroad: its political suicide. Enough to lose an election. |

Both those questions are extremely silly. There is absolutely no causation between Israel and the vast majority of Islamic terror incidents. To that, I have nothing to add. |

Hello? Do the words "Afghanistan" and "Iraq" ring any bells? |

Not a silly as your answer.
No, not a single Islamic terrorist ever gave as a reason the existence of Israel or its actions, no...
Yes, how silly of me |

Grade 10?
Using strawmen is hardly a tactic I would expect to see in an educated adult.
* This, comparatively, isn't a notably violent era
* What violence there is, overhwhelmingly, has nothing at all to do with Israel
* The Arab Israeli Conflict, in the context of world conflict, is not particularly bloody
Stay at the kids' table, Bacasper |
