|
|
I have a friend, who is already in Korea, trying to find a Chinese teaching job in Korea, but doesn't know how to do so. Her circumstances require her to obtain a job within 15 days or she has to leave the country. She is Chinese, knows English, BUT she doesn't know Korean. Does anyone know of any resources or just anything that can help her in her search for jobs that teach Chinese in Korea?
Thank you for any help! |

I think her best chance is to look for hagwons that teach Chinese and ask if they need a teacher. |

So, she needs visa sponsorship?
Of the two Chinese teachers I know of who teach here; one is Chinese, but ethnically Korean. I'm not sure what kind of visa she is on. She got hired at a small hagwon that does not sponsor her visa.
The other is married to a Chinese professor that teaches at Yonsei U. She is on an F visa (I think). She teaches Chinese language classes at companies.
TTOMP might chime in with the correct answers soon, but I think your friend may be limited to a) finding a factory that will sponsor her visa, b) find illegal teaching/ bar/ whatever work and play hide and seek with immi - I know of a Uzbeki who did that for three years before she was deported-, or c) do what Ttompatz says. |

The visa for teachers of Chinese is the same as the visa we are on - the E2. If the person meets the immigration requirements they can get a job.
OP, try international schools. I know two Chinese teachers and both work at international schools. |

I teach Chinese as an after-school program. But, I'm in the Gangnam district and have to be transfered to some other place.
Contact Shindong Elementary. It ain't a full-time gig though. Beautiful school. |
