Just received this email from SuperColorSuper.

Important news for everyone, a bit of death by commitee. KMRB, the Korea Media Rating Board, http://www.kmrb.or.kr/ contacted SuperColorSuper's lead manager this afternoon, Violet, that to put on the show will result in prison time and serious fines- in light of the show has been properly reviewed by this censorship board. The Liars' were fully prepared to perform and did everythi...ng properly, this is no way reflects upon them. The blockade comes from down to us by way of government. Our co-promoter and the Hall manager had heard a few days together that amother music organizer (not sure which) was set to interfere with our shows now since our grassroots/DIY work had been gathering support, and we had been researching everything we could to be locked and loaded. We didn't expect this though. Unless there is a way found to make the process easier, this might mean some drastic changes in concerts in Korea.

We've gotten Media Rating Board approval for shows in the past when they were possible, but for most venues they are actually impossible to get because of zoning classicications- places that constantly run shows, like Vera, M2, Stompers, Spot, DGBG, TA, FF, Mansion, Eden, etc are not licensed venue for this board. There are a handful of places this is possible in Seoul, and they are nil in Busan, Daegu.

So why is this coming about now? When asking the board why they were only shutting down Liars', they confirmed they knew of many other unlicensed shows the same nights as our shows, but were only asking us to stop at the behest of someone who called them.

About the show-
To be clear-- Liars will not be allowed to perform. Full refunds will be granted. Our widest apologies go out to our fans and the band.
Emails will be sent to ticket buyers about refunds

The Liars Show won't be on but in it's place will be a SuperColorSuper fund/awareness raiser instead. We've invited the Liars to come as civilians and say hi to fans :

Help make history, and save the scene!

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like someone at KMRB needed something to keep them busy.

Just leave it alone. Ignorance is bliss. Koreans don't know what they're missing and it should stay that way. It's a slippery slope. Once they get exposed to good music they'll start having music festivals. Then they'll want pot and coke. Then heroin and ecstacy. Orgies. Blood cults. Talking lobsters. Best nip it in the bud. Sip your soju. Nod your head to the K-Pop. Keep your head down.

That's a damn shame. I really didn't get to go to many SuperColorSuper shows, but I do consider seeing The Microphones in Seoul as one of the highlights of my time in Korea thus far.

Still, can they continue to organize through the appropriately zoned venues?
It may limit their shows, but at least it would be something right?

What exactly got the show canceled?

Size of tickets vs. venue size and fire code?
Content of lyrics?
Explicit visuals?
An arrest without conviction on a members' visa?

Ok, visas. Shady visa processes and shady people.
