We have to return the UK this year and my wife is down about having to give up her teaching job which she loves and is not looking forward to trying to find work in the UK (very slim pickings for korean speakers). So I was thinking about this and suggested that she could maybe offer one to one lessons online via skype to students here in Korea - the students still get the face to face time and she could price accordingly as she isnt having to split the fee with a school.
Ive been working remotely whilst here in Seoul doing my job back home but that is IT and not teaching so not sure how it would transfer, I reckon I have been 80-90% as effective remotely as sitting at my desk in London. The technology is here now for real time face to face communication so this is what got me thinking along these lines for whether it would work for her like it has for me.
She isn't sure it can be done or if there will be a demand for it. I said I think there will be a demand if the price is right, not maybe as a replacement for one-to-one lessons in person but possibly in addition to.
Im not a teacher so cannot offer her advice on if it is workable - can any of you experts out there share your thoughts please? |
