Carry it with you as oversize luggage or sell it. There is NO cost effective way to ship it.

Aye. No name guitars are a dime a dozen in Korea. Brand name guitars are easily more expensive here than the US.

If its a well known guitar make then I would sell it here, and then use that money to buy another one in the States.

It is just a fender acoustic. But, it was a gift so I would like to hold on to it. I've been to Nakwon and have seen the prices on some of the imported guitars, not cheap. Korea makes many guitars that are sold in the U.S. so I thought there might be an easy way to ship one.

when i came from chicago, i brought checked in luggage, both weighing near limit, a carry on bag, and a gear bag with my ibanez. this with delta at no charge. apparently, they're used to that sort of thing and stowed it in the closet. no joke. didn't call or arrange anything before hand. just showed up. but this is korea so who knows.
call your carrier and ask. can't hurt at the very least
