Does anyone have any experience filing Korean income tax? Initially, my school (a private elementary school - not a hagwon) said it was voluntary, but they have since said, no, it's mandatory. According to the National Tax Service (Korea) at http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/help/help_02_01.asp?top_code=H001&sub_code=HS01&ssub_code=HSA2, if we have a job that requires us to live in Korea for a year or more, we need to file.
I wouldn't be so concerned, but there is a penalty for NOT filing, soo.. I'd like to do things right the first time 'round.
Problem is my school isn't very clear in what needs to be done, so I'm looking for any suggestions or anyone who has gone through the process.
I've also heard that you may end up paying... it's a crapshoot whether you get a refund or have to dish out more.
Thanks for any help you can offer! |
