|

I'm looking into a company that has schools in the following areas in Seoul. As I understand I may not be guaranteed my first choice but I'll have some input on where I will work/live. People who live in these locations or know Seoul well, I'd love your impressions of these areas.
Some things I'm considering
Expat community, food/nightlife(a diverse range, dont need western food)
Subway access, position relative to other areas.
Vibrant community
Banpo
Nowon
Gwangmyeong
Mok-dong
Jamsil
Seokgye
Ssangmun
Sungbuk
Yeongdeungpo
Cheongdam
Dongdaemun
Songpa
Gangseo
Gangdong
Guri
They also have a couple locations in Incheon which I haven't ruled out. I've been doing research on Incheon and it looks like an interesting city, and if I'm correct it shares a line with the Seoul Metro.
Songdo
Bupyeong
Any thoughts / info is appreciated
Thanks as always |

In my opnion, your location within Seoul doesn't really matter a whole lot, especially if you've never been to Seoul before. Subway/bus access is good in all parts of the city. It's easy to get around and nothing is too far away. It's hard to narrow it down, especially since many of the places you've listed are rather large areas.

These places are mostly middle to upper-middle class residential areas. Although they're scattered around different areas of the city they're all relatively similar. Lots of apartments, lots of families with children, fairly quiet at night.

These 2 are technically not in Seoul. Both are suburbs but are mainly similar to the places above. Gwangmyeong is on the Southwest edge of Seoul, Guri is in the Northeast.

Probably most famous for fashion and shopping. There's also a bit of a foreign community here (mostly Russian, Mogolian, Central asian).

Several big department stores here. Close to Yeouido and the Han River. The area around Yeongdeungpo Station has a lot of bars and restaurants but they're mostly Korean style.

For the two Incheon locations, Songdo is the brand new area in the southwest part of the city. Very modern and the home of Korea's new tallest building. They have a lot of ambitious plans to make this area an international business center but I don't think much is happening there yet.
Bupyeong is on the East side of the city. Big market and a lot of shopping around the area. Also much closer to Seoul than Songdo. |

I live in Mokdong. It's a really nice area, but very residential. Not much to do at night, but there are a few decent restaurants and a million coffee shops. Big homeplus, emart, hyundai department store, movie theatres, and costco isn't too far away depending on where you are. There are two subway lines that run through it (9 and 5) and they provide good connectivity to the rest of Seoul. Just takes awhile to get to some areas (gangnam, myeongdong, hyehwa, etc). Hongdae/Sincheon are quite close though. |
