Depends on where he is from, what license he currently has and whether or not he has an ARC.

So I am assuming from the above link........
that all people trying to get a Korean DL have to go to their embassy and have their home countrty's DL certified?
wow that sucks.....but rules are rules i guess.
anyone have any experience with this? Thank god I did this a long time ago....

what is the aptitude test? @ the OP he would have to write an aptitude test along with a written test as the US isn't on the list of valid licenses.

i got mine in daegu 2 years ago... it's so easy it's ridiculous... pay a bit of money, take an eye test, hearing test, squatting test (strange but true)... take two photos in their photo booth (which costs), trade in your american drivers license (they keep it until you leave the country, when you can go there and get it back), and take a 20 question test on a computer... that was a bit tricky because they had 3 questions that were specific to korean traffic law, but i passed the first time within 5 minutes...
all in all, a simple, painless couple of hours... but foreigners even have our own line so you don't have to wait usually like everyone else and they even gave me coffee
my recommendation is to bring about 50,000w cash and go in the morning when it first opens...
good luck |

getting the license isn't bad at all. It's driving in a place where everyone has a death wish that's the problem. |

I got mine last March or April, I needed to go to the embassy then. Took the 20 questions on the computer, but didn't have to take the squat test!
NOr did I have to hand over my US license. I simply put it away right after I showed it to the lady the first tiem. She never asked for it again. I went to Gangnam, but a friend who went to Yongin had to hand his over.
Another thing, the 20 questions weren't the easiest either, a combination of Konglish and obscure questions. |
