a few days ago my school went to immigration to extend my e-2 for another year since i'm staying at the same school. immigration has my ARC and said i will get it back in 7-10 days. seeing that next week is vacation time...i was thinking about leaving this weekend for a week long trip to another country, but i don't have my ARC. will immigration at the airport allow me to leave, or re-enter, without my ARC. i have my passport...so is that enough? every time i have traveled before immigration at the airport checked my passport and my ARC...giving me the impression that both are required to leave the country. so does anyone if i am allowed to leave?...or am i handcuffed until i get that card back?

YOu're supposed to show it when you enter and leave. Call 1345 and ask. You won't be handcuffed, biut you'll probably be scolded.

i just went with some friends to malaysia for lunar new year, and one forgot her ARC. she just had to go to the immigration office and get a paper. so maybe just get to the airport a little early.

Did immigration give your school some sort of receipt for your ARC(paper showing they are holding it)? If so, I believe this, if you can get it and show it at the airport, might be good enough.

thats cool that your friend got through with no troubles...i was hoping it would be something as simple as having a little talk with them.

i'm not sure if my school got any document from immigration showing they were holding my arc...but i'll ask my school tomorrow. that would definitely come in handy.

thanks for the input everyone.

Actually, I'm probably thinking of the small form they gave when they held onto your passport to add the visa stamp.....telling you when to come and pick it up.
