Hi,
My university has said they can only get my pension to me after I have left the country for good.
Aside from giving a friend here all my bank details etc. is there a way to get the money over to a UK bank at a time of my choosing (i.e. at a time when the exchange rate is good.)
I'm with Nonghyup.
Thanks |

Why not set up wire transfer for your internet banking? Then you can wire it to yourself from the UK when they put it into your Nonghyup account....or whenever you think the exchange is good enough. |

Well initially I thought this would be too unreliable, so I took your advice and went in today and asked an English speaking Korean at the uni to help me. To my surprise, Nonghyup's internet banking service is in legible English (with a few oversights) and they have a telephone English service where the woman who answered spoke perfect English and was very helpful.
I'm not sure if Nonghyup deserves its reputation as the farmer's bank!
One thing, for anyone deciding to do this, make sure you go to the branch and set up for large foreign transfers as I found out today that mine is only authorised up to $500 (I think; the English was slightly unclear) I'm going to go in tomorrow and check on this and will update the thread. |
