I've been doing many searches during the past week, but not producing anything less than $900 to LAX or SFO with Las Vegas, Chicago, and other cities running in the $1000+ range. It's not uncommon now for $2500 one way fare to be the lowest available when I search the airline sites themselves such as Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, and American Airlines.
I'm wishing to go to the states in late April from anywhere in Southeast Asia. |

1- Narrow down where you want to fly from
2- Get some travel dates down
3- April is a good month to travel as it is low season
4- Narrow down your destination in the Continental US
Once thats done, check out the American carriers like Delta, AA, United as they tend to be cheaper than KAL, Asiana or JAL.
Using the airline sites requires patience and a lot of checking to get those short lived seat sales.
You may be better off contacting an agent.
At the end of the day you will end up paying between 700 000W and 1 000000W depending on where you fly, when you fly and with what airline....
For example, for an AA flight from ICN to LAX departing on April 6th, you can get a seat for 902USD (one way ticket). |

Uh, in less than a minute I found a BKK-->SFO (or LAX) flight for $738. Date of travel: any day the last week of April.
Also, the best day to buy a ticket is Tuesday. |

| And if you're going to fly from SEA, you might want to try to buy a ticket from a travel agent in BKK. Sometimes they have better deals than what you can find online. I'd definitely focus on flying from BKK or Singapore. |

Does that mean buying a ticket on Tuesday is the cheapest, or buying a Tuesday ticket is the cheapest? |

| my trip here to korea, one way, cost roughly 600-700 with delta (from chicago), bought somewhere like a month in advance. 2 years ago, i saw that US to vietnam was supercheap (500-600). obviously, that'll require you to head to vietnam, but if you were looking for a jaunt before heading back... |

hey i JUST had a vacation in CANADA during possibly a peak asian season anyway
jan 26th to feb 3rd
tickets are cheaper on weekdays btw
i checked expedia.ca and got 1200,000won round trip from incheon to bejing to vancouver via china airlines
but my girlfriend got even BETTER rates on the exact same flight with
onlinetour.co.kr
at 900,000won
it's a korean website so get a korean person to help u out. i had to pay with a bank transfer, they didn't accept my mastercard cuz i'm a foreigner i'm guessing
that's pretty dirt cheap... i dunno how you're gonna get cheaper than that. direct flights with like korean airlines were around 1800,000won during the same time
try korean websites cuz they seem to get better deals than english websites and you're paying in won which is always good |

Tuesdays and Thursday tend to be best for international flights in all my searches, but I didn't notice any price changes while running the same searches every day from January 26th to February 10th though most of my searches where for flights in April and May after I'd already purchased my March 1st flight some 6 weeks ago. For the price it costs to fly home ($1300) one way from Korea via the Pacific ocean including Tuesday flights, you can take the long way home if in no hurry for only $100 more airfare. If you are from Europe or Australia, it's only half the price to get home it costs to get to North America if you shop and time it right.
The 1,300,000 won air money doesn't quite cover a direct flight to north America or even one with 2 to 3 mandatory stop overs, but it's still better than what jobs anywhere else offer. I booked 5 flights for an around the world in 80 days trip all for a cool $1400 as funny as that sounds. I didn't book for 80 days due to a popular movie title, it just made logical sense to me in getting my money's worth due to not being in a big hurry. Of course ground transport in Europe will cost me about four hundred more and then hostels in Paris run $35 a night minimum for crappy dorms with very little hospitality though I'm only staying 2 nights in old Paris before moving on to more central areas like Prague, Budapest, and Bratislava which still charge $25 a night for backpacker dorms so that eastern Europe on a shoestring we always heard about isn't cheap like many claimed. Truly cheap and good hospitality are only to be found in southeast Asia which I'll enjoy for for 50 days. |
