IH Teacher Training is second to none. If you ever apply for a job outside of Korea, employer's will take an IH cert seriously. Their CELTA course is very well run and their online supplementary courses can be useful.

I did the Certificate of advanced methodology with them this time last year. It was very beneficial.

Can't comment on their online courses, but I did my CELTA with IH and thought the standard of teaching was very high and they seem to be very well respected in the field of teacher training.

I took my CELTA with them in Prague, and their training was great. Very well run, great instructors and an all round very positive experience.

They are quite a well respected branch (or at least for the schools I applied to within Europe) so I'd recommend them.

Hey, thanks for all the info. I think I-ll be taking a course or two online in the fall.

I thought about the DELTA> Are you going to do the Distance DELTA or the onsite two month one?

I'm not sure yet. If I do take the 2 month one, I'll probably go back to the USA to do it.

I'm in week one of the certificate course. It's demanding but do-able. Lots of work, but I know there is no way in hell I'd be able to tackle the DELTA without doing this course. Barcelona is a beautiful city. The food and wine are great! I'm on a working vacation, but it beats the hell out of desk warming in Korea! I wish you could get the same kinds of food in Korea without paying an arm and a leg!

"Winter" here is like early October in Korea. I'm sitting here wearing a t-shirt and with the window open. It's too bad Americans can't work legally here, it'd be nice to stay a year or so just for the culture. So far, I'm loving it.

Epik_Teacher,

Please keep posting. I'm very interested to learn of your experiences. The good, the bad, the ugly.

Best of luck,

I did my CELTA with International House in Bangkok (3 years ago). Completely professionally run course. I can recommend them.

Good luck.

Actually, they can. Look up the Min of Ed or PM me for more info.

I am currently considering the same thing. I thought about doing it in Chiang Mai Thailand this summer, or maybe do it here in Seoul, over two months and weekends. They seem to average out to the same price, except in Thailand it includes room and board.

Not sure which yet.

Hey, good luck with that. I've emailed nearly all the centres in Europe and Asia. Of those who answered me, NO BC will hold the course unless you're a BC teacher. You can sit the exam though, but I believe you have to take the course first.

I'm starting to get turned off by the DELTA: It seems to be basically a British Council thing. I found one place, not a BC that holds it in Poland, but it's PT and in Nov and December. No can do Sad

EDIT: I'm just looking for DELTA module 1. I believe that some BC will offer it, but all three modules at once, which would be 8 weeks FT.

I've been looking at the same thing. Most of the courses I've found are offered only at very oddball times. If you don't get in on the early Feb start dates, you have to wait until October or some such garbage. Not to mention the hassle of finding a tutor, etc... Maybe I'll just bite the bullet, leave EPIK this fall and do the face to face course in Poland or Russia.

I've been told that for modules 1 and 3 you don't have to attend classes, just study and take the exam. Still I'm turned off by the organisation and by the fact that the majority of the courses seem to be offered at the BC.
