Anybody had any experience with the Korean embassy in London RE: getting your degree and qualifications signed/notorised?

Thier website doesn't mention the service so I guess I'm turn going to pop round and see what happens.

If anyone has any advice it'd be aprreciated!

I had to get my degree notorised at the London Chamber of Commerce, before the Korean Embassy would accept it.

Hope this helps.

I have heard conflicting reports in the past. I could call them directly. Do you have the phone number?

Ahhh...

Just spoke to the embassy (0207 227 5500) and they said (in konglish):

1) photocopy your degree.

2) get this photocopied degree notorised by a "notory public office" which apparently is a type of solicitor.

3) post original + p/copy to embassy.

4) charge is GBP1.20 per copy notorised by them, they keep one for thier records, and send others + original back to you (turn around time is 3 working days).

Riiiight. Time to find a notory public office. harryh - how was the chamber of commerce? cost anything in time or money?

Thanks.

I don't know about the British system, but in the States we have notories at banks. Is that possible there?

You NEED to go to the British chamber of Commerce up on like the fourth floor of some building over by St. Paul's (ask the security guard he'll send you to the right floor), they make the copy and notarise it (its a big stampy jobby). Its worth phoning them in advance because they close for lunch and they sometimes aren't always open to the public. Then you go to the Embassy, near victoria and get them to notarise it, it takes them about 3 days and then you're good to go. Hope this helps.

That sucks! I went to the embassy in Vancouver. Took a couple of photocopies and I think $20 and my original and they notorized them there and gave them back to me about a half an hour later.

Cheers

It's meant to be per copy but if you smile sweetly you might not even have to pay at all, depends if they like you or not really.....

Eeeeeeeeeexcellent.... I am now the proud owner of stamped degree copies from the London Chamber of Commerce, but there's more to it than that:

You see I actually lost my original degree certificate - and my old University (Edinburgh) doesn't issue new ones. So, being the slightly dodgy person that I am, I borrowed my friend's degree certificate, scanned it, Photoshopped it, and colour printed it onto posh paper. Luckily hes Greek and has more letters in his name than a can of Alphabetty-Spaghetti, so I had a lot to work on.

I gotta tell you, it's a pretty convincing piece of art, and importantly all the content is true (a true fake if you will). So with the forgery in hand I strolled into the London Chambers and handed it over for stamping.

I explain to the woman that the university sent me these copies and Id like them notarised. She looks at the dodgy copies, back at me, and then at my old Uni photocard. She looks tired and mulls over my spiel for a second. Realising that she really doesnt give a toss, she stamps and signs all my copies and lets me have it all for free!

Nice. Very Happy

Now its time to post my Certified true fake certificates to the Embassy. I wonder if counterfeit-karma will get me?
