Apparently a 31 year old American (hagwan teacher) jumped out from a 14th story window. It's reported that he tossed his pants and underwear out the window and then wrapped his shirt around his face before jumping. The online article also mentioned that he was causing a ruckus at Kimhe (spelling?) Airport, and later police found empty soju bottles scattered all over his apartment when they searched his place. The suicide took place in Busan on the 19th.
Has anyone heard about this?
My Korean roommate brought this to my attention and asked how many teachers commit suicide in Korea. I didn't know what to tell her, and I was wondering if anyone here has an idea. Also, she asked why Korea? Why not fly home and do it? I couldn't answer. What do you folks think? |
