if you contract is finished here in Korea, do you still need a travel visa to go into china?

Chinese immigration policies are not related to your contractual obligations in Korea.

The only caveat is that there have been issues with the Chinese consulate here in Seoul refusing visas to those with less that 6 months on their ARC. Check with a travel agent.

Not personally, but it has been discussed thoroughly on these boards. Supposedly, there might be some work-arounds (like going through a specific travel agent).

I have said it so many times. If you dont have six months on your arc- fly to hk and take the ferry to shekou, china before you exit customs at the hk airport. the ferry leaves to china from inside the hk airport, when the ferry lands in china have two pics and your passport and go to the visa counter- 20-30 minutes later you will have a 90 day tourist visa- walk through china customs and start your trip.
