And you thought Astrology was just a bunch of hogwash!
Mercury causes homosexuality in male ibises
Environmental pollutant radically changes birds' mating behaviour.
Joseph Milton
| Quote: |
Exposure to mercury pollution could be hitting some wild birds' reproductive prospects hard by causing males to pair with other males.
American white ibises (Eudocimus albus) from south Florida that consumed methylmercury (MeHg), the most toxic and easily absorbed form of mercury found in the environment, were more likely to engage in same-sex pairings a phenomenon unknown in wild populations of this species with no exposure to the pollutant.

Consumer groups call for end to EU light bulb ban
| Quote: |
Consumer protection organisations have demanded a suspension of the EU ban on incandescent light bulbs, citing official tests that showed the new compact fluorescent lamps to be dangerous if broken.
The energy saving bulbs show mercury levels 20 times higher than regulations allow in the air surrounding them for up to five hours after they are broken, according to tests released Thursday by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA). |
It's a conspiracy I say! |

| The rise in homosexuality in the west is due to pollution- poisonous metals in the food chain. Its not genetic, people are not born gay. Its a symtom of a damaged environment. |

Three questions:
1. If by "rise in homosexuality" you mean increased incidence, have you got any science to back up this assertion?
2. And how do you explain identical twins raised together who are discordant for homosexuality?
3. Can you demonstrate that human homosexuality does not occur in pristine environments? |

| 3. According to the bible, The Garden of Eden is the only truly pristine environment. There was no homosexuality going on there. |

No, but it could mean Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, and gays are from Mercury...........not that there's anything wrong with that. |

Perhaps I meant increased cultural acceptance/ openness.
Rape and murder has always existed as well. Does it make it right, just because it has always been?

one got exposed to more mercury.

Thats what the study suggests. At least as far as vertebrates are concerned. |

Do you really believe we are more open now than in ancient Greece and Rome?
Since you are not referring to rise in incidence, your question is superfluous.

So with identical genetics and pre- and postnatal environments, just how is that possible?

Only for male ibses. There are a whole host of other species in which homosexual behavior has been observed and where no contamination has been documented. |
