Quote:
According to the National Health Insurance Corporation, a ministry affiliate, the number of people treated for various venereal diseases marked 352,000 in 2010, up 19,000 from four years ago.

Women outnumbered men: Female patients marked 249,000 compared to 102,000 men. ... They were mostly treated for herpes and giardiasis, making up over 79.8 percent of cases.

Women are more susceptible to such diseases because of their body structure and weaker immune system.

Since more of the elderly population are enjoying their sex lives ...

Old people need love too. I find it disturbing that women are viewed as weaker in Asia. For example, in China, after a woman gives birth, she rests in a bed for a month. Supposedly, she isn't even supposed to take a bath. Western women don't do this. Probably because we don't view them as being that weak.

They missed an alternative explanation for the spread of the STDs. What if their cheating or prostitute-visiting husbands gave it to them? I remember hearing a popular myth. Supposedly, STDs and AIDs are things that only foriegners can get. Has anyone else heard this too?

Women are less likely to notice STD's because their symptoms are different. And therefore less likely to get treated.

I always thought that women had a stronger immune system... but it's still true that their "body structure" makes them more vulnerable to some diseases.
