I'm thinking about getting a place near Indeogwon station on line 4. The housing is nice, but I'm wondering about the area.
What are the pros and cons of the Indeogwon station area? |

Well jamma,
I'm looking for affordability and newness when it comes to place to live. I found that in Indeogwon.
It's on line 4, so it's convenient when going into Seoul.
What I'm concerned about is the area. A positive I've read is that it's close to other stations. But what about around Indeogwon station itself?
Ideally, I'd like to live in an area that's clean, pleasant to stroll around, and easy access (walking distance) to markets/stores for groceries (i.e. Emart). |

There are a few buses that go directly to Sadang in less than half an hour and at least one to Gangnam station in less than an hour. Lottemart and Emart are both maybe fifteen minute walks from the station. One of the buses goes past Sadang and Sinyongsan stations, ending at Seoul Station. It's not a bad place to live and probably closer to desirable parts of Seoul than many places within Seoul proper.
There aren't that many officetels around Indeogweon, but they just finished building a pretty big development of them last year, right across the river form the station. Most of the apartments are older. My friend lived there for a year, and it seemed pretty quiet and charming by Korean standards.
Most of the crap to do is around Pyeongchon or Beomgye. Indeokweon always struck me as a place where ajosshis go to sing songs with prostitutes, but the proximity to the river and bike trail make it nice. Most of the buses that run to anywhere else in Anyang or to Suwon tend to go past Indeokweon station, too. You're pretty closes to most of the places to go hiking in Anyang if you live around there. There's a bus directly to the entrance of Cheongyesa from the station. Gwanaksan and Moroksan are pretty close, too. If you follow the walking trail to the end, Baegun lake is right there.
Most of the foreigners in Anyang seem to live in Naeson Dong in Uiwang, near Pyeongchon, or near Hagwon-ga. I'd prefer Indeokwon over those places if proximity to where I work weren't a factor. |
