Just got back from a trip to China and was able to withdraw money successfully from every ATM I tried using my KEB Global Check Card. I had been checking online and even calling KEB before leaving to try and get more information about which ATMs worked with this card because only certain ones had worked in Japan. Like I said every ATM I used worked and this was throughout China in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Qinhuangdao (the two places I pulled out money). Here are the banks I used so you can be on the lookout for them. They are everywhere so it should not be a problem. Happy traveling!

ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China)
Bank of Beijing
Agricultural Bank of China
China Postal Savings Bank

It is much better to pull money out from an ATM in the country you travel too instead of converting Won at the airport or trying to hunt down a place that will convert currency. If you have been to China, list any ATMs you tried with a global card that worked so we can make sure it is easy for people in the future.

you sure about that? I've always been told it's best to exchange here. I know the airport rates are not the best though....I thought the KEB card is a credit card? and withdrawing from an ATM is not good with a CC? plus a standard compulsory charge for using the ATM. Could well be wrong Laughing

Was there a limit on how much you could withdraw? In the Phils, most ATMs have a 10,000 peso limit for foreign cards.

The 10,000 piso limit is per transaction, 20,000 piso limit per day. In addition the banks in the Philippines add a 200 piso transaction charge. Taking money from an ATM gives the absolute worst exchange rate! If you have a reasonable amount of savings in a bank in Korea go to the exchange desk and ask for a 50% discount on the split rate between the buying and selling rate. For example if the buy rate on dollars is 1140 and the sell rate 1160, the will most likely sell to you at 1150. Do not try to exchange won in the Philippines anywhere either, the exchange is atrocious.
