Hey,
I live a little bit outside of Anyang on the street where the Lotta Mart (it's near the Anyang fisher market). I have been trying to figure out the bus system for over a month now and I can't seem to do it. Can someone help me? I'd specifically like to figure out which bus to take to Ayang Station area where all the bars and restaurants are located? I only work with one other foreigner and she doesn't know anything at all despite living here for two years. Thanks. |

I find that the majority of bus stops in this area have a routemap in them saying where the buses that come there stop at. Most stops are written in korean but Anyang station is always written in English, as is Beomgye and Pyeongchon station. |

Go WEST from Lotte Mart along the highway overpass, until you see a pedestrian overpass 'under' the highway. Do not cross, but under the pedestrian overpass, you will find a westbound bus stop (should be marked bus stop no. 10148 if it's properly maintained).
Catch any one of 333, 3330, 1650 there, which will take you to Anyang Train Station in about half an hour under normal traffic condition. All three are of 'rapid' grade charging 1700 instead of normal 900 Won, all terminating at Anyang Station. |

http://local.daum.net/map/index.jsp
Click 지도 on the map to get rid of sky view.
Find Anyang.
Scroll in to a fairly close level, you'll see the bus stops have shown up. Find the bus stop near where you want to go
click it
you'll see all the routes listed.
You can click each one and it'll show where it goes.
Alternatively you can right click on any area and click the following:
1. 출발지로 선택 - departing from
2. 도작지로 선택 - arrive at
this will create a route from one spot to another. However it's a car route.
On the car route panel on the left scroll to the bottom and find:
대중교통...button
click that to get transit options
on the top of the new panel you can see
버스 (bus)
지하철 (subway)
or the last option being bus and subway together. You can use this to see all the various routes that go between them.
This generally works fine even in firefox |

Hi there, HoldenOversoul! I live in the same area, about a 5-10 minute walk away from the Lotte Mart. What crossmr and Jake_Kim say is spot-on, and I will add that Google Maps also includes the public transit directions for the Seoul Metro buses and subway. Just tell it where you want to go and where you are and it does the rest:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=37.380479,126.972145&daddr=Anyang,+Anyang-dong,+Anyang-si+(%EC%95%88%EC%96%91%EC%97%AD)&hl=en&geocode=%3BCaCXUsIkzyTBFau5OgIdMKyQByk32bqm2mB7NTEGd82H5x9DgA&mra=mift&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=37.379928,126.970775&sspn=0.009207,0.015085&ie=UTF8&ll=37.391436,126.947365&spn=0.036824,0.060339&z=14&start=0
Alternatively, you can right-click where you are and tell it "Directions from here" and do the same with your destination ("Directions to here") and it will figure it out for you.
On another note, if you are new to the area and want to meet a few people, send me a message and I'll introduce you to some of my friends in the neighborhood. |

One thing I would say about Google is that while they are always improving their Korean coverage, they still aren't as detailed as Daum or Naver are.
It's certainly leaps and bounds ahead of where they were 3 years ago when I first had a look at it (it was very high level maps then and certainly no transit) but I notice that their maps still are missing a lot of smaller side streets which Daum has. |
