| Is it possible to leave the country without a letter of release, cancel a visa and turn around and come back in? To work for someone else? If so, how does one cancel an E-2 visa? |

I'd be slightly careful on this one because immigration will still have a record of your original E2. If they decided to they could probably say that because that visa has not expired they won't issue you with another one. There's also some rule about not issuing a new visa within x months of an old one (is it 8 or 9? can't remember)
I'm sure people will tell you they have done it but everything with Korean immigration seems to be a lottery so I would say that its only an option if you are OK with possibly not being able to work again legally for a while. |

no real experience here apart from other people's stories.
it seems that if your new hakwon wants you bad enough they can pull some strings to have the letter of release overlooked... there are some posters on here that it has happened to but i forget who exactly...
either way.. it is not legal but then again.. this is korea |

You can't actually cancel your E2, you can hand in your ARC, but unless the director cancels your E2, which he or she should do once you leave the school, it will stay on record and immigration will certainly ask your previous director why they did not submit the paperwork and depending on what they say, if may create problems for you. |
