I'm going on vacation in July and need a cat-Sitter. What would you think is a fair rate. I'll be going for about 8 days. Also, I'm in Incheon if anyone is interested.

Just to be clear, you're charging a stranger to house sit your cat? That'll be tricky unless you can find an ancient Egyptian... and even if you do, you'll probably have to use the barter system which was common back then.

Ha ha ha... it's Friday...

Seriously though, it depends on what you want them to do. Do they have to spend an hour with your cat everyday or just feed it and clean it's litter box every second day? The former 100,00... the latter 30,000.

Yeah charge makes it sound like you're expecting someone to pay you to spend time with your cat. I think you mean pay. A neighbor might do it for free and just bring back a souvenir or something for them but think about transportation costs for someone further away.

Get a friend to come feed the cat every day, change its water and clean out the litter after a few days.

That should really cost you nothing!

Its not like the person has to walk the damn cat so it can poop outside.

That was practical advice.

We have a cat too and we travel each year to Korea for 4-6 weeks.

The cat stays behind.

We have a friend who does what I outlined. He comes over every couple of days, feeds the cat, cleans out the litter and takes a look at the house.

We bring him back a gift from Korea.

When he travels, we take care of his place.

The cat is pretty self sufficient anyway.

Check that...we do not take our cat to his house.

He comes to our house every couple of days while we are gone, refills the food bowl and the water bowl, checks the litter and cleans it as needed.

He also waters the plants and keeps an eye on the place.

We do the same when he travels.

No way we would impose our cat on his house however.

It is a cat afterall and cats are pretty self reliant animals that can manage on their own.

Lets not go overboard witht he cat care here! Laughing

Hey, they wouldn't have it any other way, would they? Personally, I prefer cats to dogs for their independant disposition. Dogs seem to need "happy-reinforcement" sometimes to the point of being tiresome. Surprised

Strangely enough there is a cat cafe (next to the Hello Kitty Cafe) that charges people a fee to play with their cats while enjoying a coffee.

I would say that depending on every variable you can think of, you should pay between 0 Won- 999,999,999,999, won. Not counting a tip.
The tip, based on the cat's condition after you return, whould be between 0 Won- 1,500,000,000 won.
