Hi..im planning to order the iRiver cover story (wifi) by next week. But before pulling the trigger, i would like to know if anyone here owns it and i would love to hear comments. I want to purchase e-books (in English) but im worried that maybe its not possible here in Korea. The ebook online shop i saw such as in textore (http://www.textore.com/web/common/goMain.do) seems to sell only Korean books.

I'll be very happy if i can purchase books or magazines in english version

There is a good review done by somebody at Mobileread

http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100640

Look a little more around the group and you will get some ideas on what problems people have with it.

The one point that prevents me from getting the new one is the touch screen. The touch screen basically ruins what e-ink is meant for ability to read during day time. The touch screen adds a glare.

I think the good point is the the story is not too picky with Copy Right Management. You can very likely copy over any pirated ebooks but no buying from Amazon or other ebook sellers likely.

Thanks Skippy. You are right about the touch screen, its the same problem the Sony reader has. There's a new iRiver HD that will be released this year, however i need the reader asap so i cant wait for the HD version

This was a problem with the older Sony readers. The current generation (350, 650, 950) does not have the glare problem.

Also, I think I saw the iriver reader on display at Kyobo Bookstore. You might want to stop by and play around with it to make sure you'll like it.

I have the wifi version and I think for all practical purposes it's better than then what any critics may say. Yeah, the glare is not matte like where under certain angles it might produce a glare, but it's not a big deal. I like the fact that it's only a e-book reader - even though it can retrieve email or play mp3. I also like the fact I can draw, take notes or take a snapshot of text and email to myself if I want to remember things. It's not a tablet or ipad, but it doesn't compete in my mind with them because I dare someone to read text for three hours on those. The battery life is sensational if you are using it for reading only. I also like the interface. Everything is touchscreen so you barely have to touch moving buttons which there hardly are any. I think because of this it will last a long time without breaking. Page changes are fast and reading Epub files are the bomb.

I do find myself lately using my netbook more to read in short bursts. If someone is a total bookworm and is concerned about eye strain, this e-book reader is the way to go. You can practically download anything or convert any text into readable files. In the long run it will save you money. Some Pdf files that have columns or side pictures aren't so great, but what do you expect from a screen this small? But other Pdf files with reflow on are just as good as reading Epub files.

I might sell it if someone is interested. It's in mint condition and babied with a nice case. It's been charged about three times now. I have the box and packaging still. If someone is interested, hit me up with an offer.

To the poster above, I don't think you can change the language for the dicitonary. You are stuck with English (word)->Korean (definition). It's not bad if you want to brush up on your Korean skills or if you have any Korean skills.
