I just wanted to give some updated info on background check times for those interested.

I sent mine out the first week of Feb. and received it back today (March 4), so that's 4-5 weeks time (because I'm not sure the exact date). Seems like they are getting them done quicker.

Good News! Faxed the forms over Tuesday to Terri

Do they usually bill the card after the prints are done?

I wonder what will happen when/if the US federal government shuts down to attempt balancing the budget. What services will be affected? I'm willing to bet CBCs for EFLers will not be a priority for a cash-strapped FBI.

Have you tried to call them? I was calling every Monday just to make sure my fingerprints weren't rejected. The people in the office were really nice!

Hope this helps!!

1-304-625-5590 follow the prompts and it will get you to the right people! I would just say you are checking on the status of fingerprints because they never gave me a hard time at all!

Thank you for that! I just called and was told that my forms are already in the system. I'll call back in a week to see if the prints are good (I sent several sets).

Both my wife and I sent our prints from Seoul to the FBI in January (she was about two weeks after me).

FBI charged my card in early Feb. and hers in late Feb. As of last week, we've received both CBCs--and I should mention, too, that my prints were smudged and hers were very light. So I don't think they're *quite* as picky as some have suggested.

Anyway, it was a nuisance and a slight expense, but the CBCs are at the State Dept. now, just waiting for an apostille. Not too big of a deal overall.

Just got mine! Took about 6 weeks from the day I sent the fingerprints to the day the cbc arrived in Korea. Now I just have to send it to Washington, DC for the apostille.
