Anyone know what the rules are for scooters? Do I need a license, papers for the bike, insurance for a 50cc? |

hahah rules? Scooters?
Okay, I know a few.
1. Always ride on the most crowded sidewalk.
2. Red means go.
3. Your customer's food must be hot. It is worth running over a little girl to get it there on time. |

Another scooter rule:
Run over p**** whiners who can't survive in a big, modern, urban city. |

Twice.
All BS aside, though...it can get pretty hairy out there. Keep your head on a swivel, don't trust your mirrors, expect every single driver on the road to ignore you and to behave in the most erratic, dangerously inconsiderate manner, and you'll have a leg up.
You used to be able to ride 125cc and lower on a basic driver's license, but that has changed as of last year. You now need (technically) a motorcycle operator's license for all scooters/motorcycles. |

Really? Can you back that up? I've heard nothing about this.
Also, if the law did pass, then motorcyclists should be allowed to ride on the expressways now |

It's true. You need a license for scooters as well. They changed the law. |

So a regular license isn't good for driving motorcycles under 125ccs anymore? You need a motorcycle license for any motorcycle now? |

To clarify,
I recently recieved my Korean drivers licence and was told that I can drive a 125CC bike no issues.
In fact, I drive an RT Troy right now all insured, registered and plated. As of the alst week of Feb, 2011, all you need is a valid Korean drivers licence with the class 2종보통 then you can get the 125cc. Anything above that and you have to take a road test for the "Heavy" motorcycle category. The bonus is that my licence is good for ten freakin' years. |
