Getting Canadian CRC and University Degree Notarized
Has anyone recently got their documents notarized while in Korea so they could obtain their E2 Visa? If so how much did it cost and how long did it take?
Thanks for the info...

Not gonna happen.
They need to be certified by the Korean consulate in Canada.
Hope you have someone at home to do the legwork for you.

Can we just get a lawyer here to notarize a copy, then mail it to the Embassy in Ottawa, then have them mail it to Kimmi? |

No, it definitely has to be notarized in Canada. In the case of my diploma (granted in Quebec, going through the Montreal consulate), I had to have it notarized within the area covered by the Montreal consulate (Quebec and the Maritimes). I'm not sure if this applies to Ottawa, but I would assume that it applies to Toronto. It's a serious pain. |

I already had the documents notarized in Canada but the recruiter said immi wants them notarized again at the consulate in Korea. Has anyone one else had this experience?

Because Canada is NOT a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention your documents MUST be certified (not notarized) by the Korean consulate in Canada AFTER being notarized by a notary within their respective jurisdiction of the consulate.
Bottom line:
(CPIC) CBC must be authenticated (certified) by the K-consulate in Canada.
Certified true copy (notarized) must be authenticated (certified) by the Korean consulate in Canada.
