Hi Folks,

I'm moving into a small, oddly shaped officetel loft in Seoul, and will need to get pretty creative to find myself a comfy sofa that will actually fit.

The last time I bought a soft online, it felt like sitting on solid wood, so this time I want to sit on it before I buy it.

Where's the best selection of new (or used) furniture in central Seoul? As this will be virtually the only piece of furniture I have to buy, I don't mind spending some money on it. Preferably somewhere that will deliver it free?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You are in luck, my friend. I just bought a sofa and couldn't be happier. You need to go to Isu station on the blue line; it's connected to another station (whose name escapes me, and i'm a bit drunk, but stay with me on this...it;s so and so university station). So, you walk over to this other station, and go out exit 1, walk straight, and lo and behold there are like a string of furniture stores. Be prepared to speak a little Korean and drop between 1 and 2 grand for a quality leather number. Then if you're a little hungry, there's a french sounding bakery across the street near exit 2.

Ikea's opening a store in Seoul sometime this year. If you can't wait there are some websites that sell Ikea with a bit of an upcharge.

Most of the good furniture stores/deals are outside of the city so can't help you with central Seoul.
