Hello! My bf and I live in a smaller city and we've pretty much eaten everything that there is to eat here, and we haven't found a nice special occasion restaurant. Just recently, we were in Shanghai and had a really good experience. We went to a Greek restaurant; it was on a high floor, nice view, we shared a bottle of Chilean wine and some appetizers (legit Greek food). The chairs and tables matched (what is it with Korea and awkward furniture?), the table was a good size for our dishes and for conversation, there were no loud annoying people smoking around us. The lighting was nice and dim, soft music in the background. We paid an equivalent to 55,000W (incl the wine!) for this in Shanghai. I feel like I've taken places like this for granted back home!

Anyway, we're looking for something like this in Busan or Daegu, or even in Seoul, since we do venture up there from time to time. It doesn't have to have the view or any specific cuisine either. (Korean food is fine too, as long as it isn't overly Koreanized non-Korean food). I also assume that it'll cost far more than in Shanghai, but hey, for special occasions, right

i've always really liked "leo chow's" in daegu... it's down a back alley, dimly lit, western style chinese food and mexican food, moderately priced, nice music, artsy decor... if you need directions, pm me, as it's hard to find the first time even if you're from daegu... i'll warn you, the menu is small, but everything comes in big portions and is all pretty good... don't know about the wine selection, but they have dr.pepper and some nice, non-korean beer...

also, "de tourt" (don't know about spelling) in daegu... it's across from the holy grill... this is a higher end place (even has white table cloths)... all of my english friends love this place for the wine selection...

both are downtown daegu and i can let you know how to get to either

If you're going casual in Daegu, try Italy Italy. Small, quiet, very good food and the wait staff don't hover. The wine selection is very good as well. Its near the Samduk Fire Station. Also, try Guilliver's Travels near the big S-dot store.

For Daegu got to Napoli. It's at Su seong lake across the road from the big airplane that is also a resturant.
The owner/chef is Italian and has been in Korea for about 10 years. It is expensive but it's nice.

Look here on page 9. He likes for people to call for reservations. Some nights during the week he gets full.
