I've just got myself a Korean phone and I'm trying to text the UK from it. All the usual things don't work and I need some help! How do I text the UK from Korea? |

It can be done, but it's really unreliable with delivering the messages.
Put 00244 before the number (and drop the first 0 from the number you're sending to). Example (number is 07712 858483) then text 002447712858483.
I've done the above before and it has sent successfully. However, it seems to be like 1 in every 2 or 3 messages that actually gets sent. |

i use an SK/sky phone and i need to put 00144 in front of the area code - could be different for different carriers.
you're right though, not all messages seem to get sent properly |

as someone else said, just use Skype.
it is always delivered, it's really cheap and they can reply to your Korean phone (as long as they hit the 'reply' button on their phone, rather than saving your Korean number and trying to text it). |

Useful note: you can always avoid the international access code, which vary from country to country, and substitute the plus sign +. eg, dial +44 207 333 4444
AFAIAA, this works everywhere. |

For a SKT mobile phone, overseas text prefix is 1579.
The recipient's number in the UK that you need to punch in, therefore, becomes something like 1579 44 793 xxx xxxx (without blanks).
For a KT mobile, overseas text prefix is the same as voicecall, 001. (it used to be something else)
The rate is 100 Won/per text. |

Of the 4(?) major networks in the UK, 2 of them do not work. My parents had to change their provider for me to be able to text them and I can neither send nor receive texts from my brother...I think Orange works |
