Hi folks,

I have a job teaching an afterschool program at a Public Elementary School, and was wondering if I might qualify for a Korean credit card of any kind. I DO have a contract with the school directly, and not just the afterschool agency.

Any comments appreciated!

Thanks.

Samsung card recently stopped giving credit cards to E-2 workers.

Try KEB bank.

Less than 6 months with your current employer and your ONLY choice will be a "secured" credit card.

It really helps if you are at a university. In fact, sometimes they will come around and sign up new teachers. That is how I got mine last year.

My uni is owned by Samsung, so in March of 2010, the Samsung lady came and signed up all the new teachers. This year a new teacher tried to get a credit card and was told that rules had changed. Samsung no longer issues (new) credit cards to foreigners. I'm sure there are exceptions, but they wouldn't let the new teacher get a card. NOt sure if this is for all credit cards or just Samsung.
