It has just been announced that Queen Elizabeth will visit Dublin in May. The last time a British monarch visited Dublin was exactly 100 years ago, when Ireland was still part of the UK. I think the visit is a very positive development, and will hopefully solidify the more mature, sensible nature of relations between the United Kingdom and the Irish Republic. But not everyone - especially you know who - is not enthusiastic. So I'm curious, whatchallthinkofit? |

It's symbolic, but do we really need a monarch - a symbol of the very distant and irrational past - to remind us that the Brits and Irish largely get along fantastically well? |

She is welcome to come, but I personally don't really care what she does. |

She'll be fine so long as she doesn't expect thousands lining the streets to welcome her.
Wait..hold on...did Ireland ever actually sign a treaty of independence?

Well seeing as England basically rules Ireland financially now (through bank fraud, as well as the Crown controlling the BoE by royal charter), I guess she's just making a trip over to inspect her newly acquired estate... She's probably even got a few palaces over there she's been itching to get back (for pennies on the pound). Nevermind the long history of struggle and resentment; what better way to put a wayward colony back in its place than hoodwinking the population financially? Yes, the free Irish should just welcome her in with open arms |

I have never understood this belief that some people or sets of genes are magic or better than others. But if you want to worship a German family it is your right. |

The Queen has been all over the world, including Andong, South Korea, but she has never been to Ireland? ... |
