I've wanted to go for a few years now, and might plan a trip in September over Chusok. Has anyone been there? Thoughts? |

unless you are working for an NGO or have an extremely rare special invitation Bhutan is expensive. my understanding is a group tour is required and tours start at around $200 per day. personally i have never found a way to do Bhutan on a backpacker budget. i could spend two months in most southeast asian countries for the price of one week in Bhutan. |

I haven't but I know someone who did about six years ago. They went on an organised tour and really enjoyed it. The holiday snap shots looked good. Sorry, can't be anymore helpful than that. Are you a smoker? Cigs and smoking is banned apparently. |

I believe the tax JUST TO BE IN BHUTAN as a foreigner is $200 per day, so if you stay a week, that's $1,400. I'd love to go but it is very pricey. |

Is there something about Bhutan that is worth $200 per day? Probably not. |

I've never been there but from what I've seen in videos, it's a very scenic country and a Buddhist paradise. It's also been relatively untouched by globalism and modern technology.
I knew a Bhutanese in college and he got me interested in that country, but well, I could do $50 a day but not $200. |
