The economy in the US blows and I can't find a job here. I want to go back to Korea, but I have a girlfriend I do not want to leave. She does not have a degree. Is there any way she can come with me legally? What if we were married? |

Unmarried = only as a tourist. 90 day entry stamp. Leave and return every 90 days. Repeat as long as necessary.
Get married = F3 visa. Non issue. Her visa lasts as long as yours does. She can come and go (as a registered foreigner). The only requirement is proof of marriage. She WON'T be able to legally work.

where is she from? If she's Canadian she can get a working holiday visa (no degree required) but can't teach ESL.
Otherwise, you're SOL. She can come over on a tourist visa and exit every 3 months (or 6 months Canadian) or come on an F3 dependent visa. Neither of the latter 2 allow you to work (legally). |

Slight hijack. What is the cheapest way to leave and come back in order to get a new tourist visa? Ferry to Fukoka? Sprint through the DMZ and back? |

Another thing to think about if she were to come with you on a tourist visa is the stress it'll put on your relationship. I've seen a few couples come here, both as teachers, and just have the stress of the new living situation wear down their relationship really fast. The apartment you'll be living in will probably be very small, so there likely won't be any personal space. Also, with her not working and you gone most of the day, she'd need something to keep herself occupied so as to not go stir crazy.
Not trying to discourage you from doing this, but you need to consider everything. Moving to a completely foreign country as a couple can hurt a relationship, no doubt. |

At normal times, it would be the ferry to Japan.
But if you are diligent about checking flight websites and using a travel agent, you can find somewhat cheaper flights that would be about the same as getting to Japan by ferry and faster for those of us in Seoul. |

It would put a great deal of stress on the two of you. She's relocating halfway across the world so you can be with her, sometimes you may want something that she won't. She should have something to do, so if she were really gung-ho on coming here, have her join a school.

She probably can go just for travel.
