SOS office is not the drivers license place. I did mine in the Chicago SOS office. The other SOS office is in Springfield. I don't think there are any others, but I am not sure. |

I did mine at the Springfield office right across the street from the capital building. $2, 5 minutes and done. |

I'm really pissed at the SOS in IL right now...I'm currently living in New Zealand and so my parents are taking care of my background check and the apostille currently...it was sent to Springfield a week and a half ago, and my family still hasn't gotten it back. My job in Korea is on the line if I can't get that document asap...I'm so mad about this right now. Just needed to vent. Anyway, it's supposed to be really easy to get done in IL, but I'm not experiencing that. ugh. |

wow. here is what i can gather:
first i get my diploma notarized by an Illinois official.
then get a note with a signed signature of a school official.
then get an illinois form I 213 and submit it to the secretary of state office in illinois.
this would be OK, maybe...but my degree is from Hawaii. can an illinois notary sign off on a document from another state? so, fly to hawaii (r/t) to collect the signature. is such a trip tax deductible as a business expense?
considering that one is also necessitated to submit seal transcripts from the university, and the ttranscript notes issuance of diploma is this whole exercise excessive?
yeah, i know...it is korea. i had just forgotten how abstruse... |

Some states won't allow out of state documents, California is one of the lenient states that's why Apostille Pros is able to get apostille for people from overseas and from other states in a rush - that's if you need it in a rush as they process the same day they receive it.
If you submit it into the state by mail, there's no guarantee set date for the return, it's first come first serve. Sometimes the state put 15 days, they don't mention it's 15 business days (don't count Sat and Sun). Also, 15 days doesn't mean 15 days. Sometimes it can be 25 or 30, depending how busy they are, summer time is when they get busy. Plus, you have the state budget cuts where there are less workers now in state offices. The only people that know the exact date and reassure you the exact dates are apostille service providers.
