|

My home PC is out of service and I'm always away from home. I miss playing my games.
Since most of my games are on Steam, I was wondering if it were possible to just put the steam installer as well as my game folders from the Steam directory onto a USB stick. As far as I know, individual Steam games aren't even in the registry as they're completely through Steam. I thought I might just be able to copy the directories over into my temporary steam installation.
Also, does anyone know of any PC Bangs in Seoul that have fast computers (for playing newer games)? The one I go to is really good in terms of comfort, but the specs are pretty outdated (2GB RAM/Nvidia 8600/2.5Ghz dual core). I want to be able to run some new games in this manner.
Thanks! |

it works fine, I did nearly the same thing with my Steam library a few years ago before I had internet in my apt and I wanted to play CCS.
If your USB is big enough, or your game library is small enough, just copy your whole steam folder and bring it. Steam can be picky about running files sometimes if something is missing from another folder.
As far as nice computers, if you look around, usually the PC rooms that have better computers will advertise that fact on their banner outside. Should be a good PC room in your area if you look out for it. |

Thanks! Looks like I'll be able to play stuff between classes then without having to re-download each game I want to play.
I'm aware of the advertisements but even when I do see ads, it's usually only for computers that are fractionally better than the one I"m using now. The best I've seen is computers with a Nvidia 9900 and 4GB of RAM... not horrible, but I would like to play Red Orchestra 2 when it comes out and some other new games which will not run on an entry level PC like that.
I guess Starcraft 2 never really got popular here. |

its fairly popular at the PC rooms, but you can run that game on a P4 with an integrated gfx card.
Just keep an eye out for the PC room advertisements, or just stop in and ask them. I see advertisements for ones running mid range desktops here in Junggye and when I was in Mokdong a few years ago there were a few that I went to that had good PCs as well. |
