Hi,
I'm wondering if there any Kiwis out there who have gone through the E-2 (or the S-3 alteration to the D-2) visa process recently?
I'm a student on a D-2 and currently trying to get the permission to work (S-3). The requirements are almost identical to those of the E-2. I've talked to immigration on the hotline 3 times and regarding the degree, they've told me I merely need it notarized. However, the company I wish to work for (which has experience in hiring a lot of teachers) insists I need apostille as well.
Getting apostille is going to be considerably more hassle and expense, so I'm hoping to hear from any Kiwis who have gone through this recently.
Do I really need to get my degree apostilled (which, I gather would also require it be notarized by NZQA)?
Cheers for any help,
Connell |

hey there
I have just applied for my E2, again, have previously been in Korea for 2.5 yrs, but went back home for a 5mth hiatus in NZ!
In regards to your degree - you will need to get a photocopy of your degree and get it notarised by a notary public (look in the ph book for ur nearest one), NOT a JP. Once you have their stamp on it, you need to send it to the Authentication Office in Wellington (the same one that apostilles the police checks) to get your notarised degree apostilled.
I got my copy notarised for $30 and the apostille was $35 i think. If you do it the same time as the criminal check, I think its cheaper, around $52 for 2 apostilles.
Let me know if you have any other questions! |

thanks, that's helpful.
I guess, then, that I can get my degree, which is here with me in Seoul, notarised at the embassy before sending it back to the apostille place in Wellington. I'll ask them on Monday if their notarisation is equivalent to that of a notary public.
I was wondering how I'd send the original degree through the post.
