Are there stores in Korea that sell stock LP's, and do they have websites in English, and what is the general cost for an imported album?
Thanks |

Myeongdong has a huge underground shopping centre that is almost exclusively LPs. |

For any of the turntablists like me out there in Korea, you can get turntablist (scratch) records from the DJ shop on the 5th floor of Yongsan. However, expect to pay 25,000+ won a pop. The plus side is that they have a lot of the newer tablist records. |

yep the yongsan is a good shout. on the 2nd floor of the same building are a few other second hand record shops too.
myeongdong is very good and theres a place in hongdae that i forget the name of but they arent cheap.
most vinyl dj's ive met order stuff online and pay the extortionate shipping from juno etc... tis an expensive hobby over here |

Turntable Lab just opened up shop in Hong Dae. Nice selection of used records from the states.

Aside from those already mentioned, Purple Record near Hongik University has a lot of good imports, though they're often pricey (http://www.purplerecord.com/). My favorite's easily Metavox, also in Hongdae: http://www.metavox.co.kr/. |

Those stores have weak selections. I went ahead and ordered a couple of albums online in any case, some sweet deals thanks to a weaker Euro, got Satanic Warmaster's 'Carelian Satanist Madness' 12" on picture disc, limited to 500 copies, a sweet gatefold Behexen double LP and a very rare The Ruins Of Beverast patch. |

Score. Thanks for that. I was a frequent shopper with them in the States. Hopefully they're a bit cheaper than the Yongsan DJ store. |

Do any of these shops sell record players? Purple records online store looked great but I hope they have some of the stuff on there in vinyl. Especially Isis and Baroness kinda stuff. |

Awesome bands.
Did you end up finding anywhere in Seoul that sold stuff like this?
I am positive Purple Record doesn't carry that sort of stuff, sadly. |

What does that even mean?
Baroness and Isis aren't what I'd call hipster bands.
Trust me, I'm not a hipster (not that there's any problem with that).
I'm a record nerd.

I found a second-hand record/CD store in Busan, they sell record players and gramophones, too. Here is what I purchased:
CD:
Dissection - The Somberlain (Korean pressing)
Cathedral - Forest Of Equilibrium (Korean pressing)
Varathron - His Majesty At The Swamp (first pressing, rare, sells for about $150 dollars online)
Entombed - Left Hand Path (First pressing)
Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East (UK pressing)
Sepultura - Bestial Devastation/Morbid Visions
King Diamond - The Eye
12" LP:
Skyclad - The Wayward Sons Of Mother Earth
King Diamond - Abigail
King Diamond - Them
King Diamond - The Eye
Total cost was 80 000 won.
The store is in Nampa Dong? Will have to confirm with my friend that took me there. It's near a Lotte Department Store. Can't tell you what other stuff they have as I only looked at the metal section. |
