We went up to the DMZ on an Adventure Korea tour last weekend. it was.. interesting. We picked up some North Korean beer and soju while we were there. The soju was Hell water, but the beer was passable. More drinkable than Cass, actually.

Anyone else tried it?

We made a video of the tasting:

My favorite Korean beer so far is definitely Hite D. ..but that's only if we don't count the delicious brews that come out of Craftworks in Noksapyeong.

Taedonggang used to be on sale at ordinary marts in the South, back when SK and NK were relatively in good terms a few years ago.

Compared to Taedonggang, any South Korean beer is carbonated barley tea, although Taedonggang isn't even the best beer in the world.

Yeah, I saw that when I figured out what it was called and googled it.

Wish it was still available down here. If it was roughly the same price as Hite, Cass, Etc. I'd probably take it over those.

There's an NK merchandise shop (legit and licensed, but a dying business) near Isu station.

They were selling the last batch of Taedonggang inventory earlier this year at 5000 a bottle, along with some other NK hard liquors. The thing is, with 5000 Won you can get Weihenstephaner or other premium imports elsewhere.

I've tried the beer and soju, too. As terrible as the soju was, I thought it was slightly better than South Korean soju.
