I know many times using Korean websites can help me save money on flights departing from Korea. However, my brother is coming in August and I'm trying to find the cheap flights for him. It seems that most Korean sites don't allow you to choose the starting point as somewhere outside of Korea. Anyone know of any sites that do ?

the market prices those ticket fairly efficiently and it is 90% based on the time of year.......off-season flights are as low as $500-$1000 return......high-season flights have no limit especially if you are flying during chuseok or the lunar new year.

kayak.com is a good site

If he's traveling during a busy time, have him be flexible and know his rights. Last time I went to the US, I flew business class trans-Pac, received a $400 flight voucher, and they put me up in a hotel and gave me dinner (mind you a nicer hotel than I'd ever have paid for). All in all, I made out with probably $5000+ in services for a ticket I paid about $1000 for. Be flexible.

Read through this site, too:

off season for korea to the US is not

christmas
new years
chuseok
chinese new year
june-september(summer vacation)
december-february(winter vacation)

usually the best sale flights are october/november and pre-summer vacation time in may......also a few other exception dates with low demand
